PAS1192:3 Specification for information management for the operational phase of assets using building information modelling
How do I use it?
PAS 1192:3 provides a framework for an asset owning or operating organisation to identify its information requirements and to create an asset information model with a governance method.
The framework focuses upon the need for an asset owning organisation to identify Organisation Information Requirements (OIR’s) that support its business needs. To inform the OIR’s the organisation will need to identify multiple pieces of information about the asset(s) – Asset Information Requirements (AIR’s). Whenever a capital/delivery project is required for a new or refurbished asset some of those AIR’s will support the Employers Information Requirements (EIR’s) and the Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP) referred to in PAS 1192:2
The framework may be applied to one asset or to multiple assets. The framework may be applied to an information model owned and operated by the organisation or to an information model operated by a supply chain provider of operation and/or maintenance. The framework may be applied to one source of information eg a Project Information Model or may include other sources such as existing enterprise systems, external asset information models and direct supplier inputs.
The PAS includes:
– Taxonomy of terms
– References to other relevant BSI standards and other documents
– Definitions for process and data needs
– Roles and responsibilities
